This article will guide you on building creatives using Creative Editor in Teads Ads Manager.

Updated over a week ago

Creative Editor allows you to build specific creative formats directly in Teads Ads Manager.

This guide will cover the steps to build creatives using Creative Editor for Branding, Clicks and Traffic campaigns.

Upload your assets to Teads Ads Manager by clicking on the Creatives button in Campaign Editor and selecting the appropriate creative format.

Note: All creative formats are available for Clicks objective campaigns.

For Branding and Clicks campaigns, select between:

Video

Select this option to set up a plain video creative.

  1. Input the fields for:

    • Creative name

    • Click through URL: where users will be directed to after clicking the ad

      • You will have the option to add Macros here. To learn more about Macros, see here.

  2. Upload your raw video creative file:

    • Supported formats: .mp4

    • Aspect ratio & minimum resolution:

      • Web & Mobile App: Any

      • CTV: 16:9, 1920x1080 px

      • Maximum file size: 100MB

      • Duration: up to 30 seconds

        • Note: If a video creative is landscape format and 6 seconds long, the campaign will include the Smart6 position by default in the delivery for better performance. Smart6 locks to the viewable area of the display, and remains fully in view for 6 seconds, maximizing viewability and completion rates. Smart6 can be disabled from the Position targeting settings at the Line Item level.

  3. Call to Action (Optional)

    • Select from the CTA list:

    • CTA Timing: The call to action button is displayed after the video plays for X number of seconds and remains visible until the end of the video.

  4. Optional fields:

    • External code: to integrate with another reporting system

    • Flight dates

  5. Add tracking:

    • Video start: tracks a video ad on start, when the slot is in view

    • Billable event: tracks the billed impressions based on your bidding mode

    • Video Progress

      • Video Complete: triggered when the video was played to 100% of its length.

      • Quartiles

        • First Quartile: 25% of video's length.

        • Second Quartile: 50% of video's length.

        • Third Quartile: 75% of video's length.

      • Seconds

        • Progress 1: triggered at second 1

        • Progress 2: triggered at second 2.

        • Progress 5: triggered at second 5.

        • Progress 10: triggered at second 10.

        • Progress 15: triggered at second 15.

        • Progress 30: triggered at second 30.

  6. Click Save.

Social Video

Easily reuse your existing brand creative assets from native or social ads on other platforms.
Use the layout selector below the format to choose the desired ad layout.

Social Video layout 1

  1. Input the following details:

    • Creative Name

    • Click through URL: where users will be directed to after clicking the ad

      • You will have the option to add Macros here. To learn more about Macros, see here.

    • Brand Name

  2. Upload your raw files:

    • Logo

      • Supported formats: .png, .jpg

      • Aspect ratio: 1:1

      • Minimum size: 170x170 px

    • Video

      • Supported formats: .mp4

      • Maximum file size: 100MB

      • Aspect ratio: 1.91:1 to 4:5

      • Duration: up to 15 seconds

    • End Card

      • Supported formats: .png, .jpg

      • Aspect ratio: 1.91:1 to 4:5 (same as video)

      • Minimum size: 1080x1080 px

  3. Optional fields:

    • Input your Primary Text (recommended): what your ad is about

      • Can use up to 3 lines.

      • Longer texts are truncated automatically.

    • Flight Dates

  4. Check Show Footer box to add:

    • Website URL

    • Headline

    • Description (optional)

    • Call to Action (optional):

      • Select from the CTA list:

        • Apply Now

  5. Add additional tracking for:

    • Video start: triggered when the video starts playing

    • Billable event: tracks the billed impressions based on your bidding mode

    • Video Progress:

      • Video Complete: triggered when the video was played to 100% of its length.

      • Copy the creative VAST URL and have it wrapped but your viewability provider.

      • Paste the wrapped VAST tag url in the box provided

  6. Click Save.

Social Video layout 2

      • Customize your CTA button from the Color Picker

        • To change the CTA color, click the color icon before the CTA menu and copy-paste the desired hex code. You can also use the color picker to choose the color required. If you want to go back to the default color, click on Reset.

  4. Add tracking for:

      • Aspect ratio: 1.91:1 to 4:5 (While you can upload images with various aspect ratios, the recommended ones are 1:91:1, 16:9, 1:1 and 4:5. Please note that vertical videos with aspect ratio taller than 4:5, such as 9:16, will be fit to a 4:5 aspect ratio by adding black vertical bars to each side.)

      • Minimum size: 500x500 px

  3. Click on Show Footer checkbox to include:

Creative Editor Features

Custom CTA option for Creative Editor

Creative Editor call-to-action menu now offers an option to use custom text.

The custom call-to-action should be concise and up to 20 characters.

For Social Layout 1 creatives, it should be less than 15 characters to allow enough space for the headline on smaller devices.

Please note that you can still use one of the default CTA options.

Dynamic Keywords

Dynamic Keywords insertion allows ads to adapt to various users depending on their location and/or day of the week. This feature is aimed at increasing relevant traffic to Advertiser websites, by making ads appear more relevant.

In the Creative Editor, you can now insert {KeyWords} into your creative headline or description.

The words that can be dynamically added are: City, Country, Day of the week.

The ad text displayed to the user will be dynamically populated with the appropriate value.

The benefit of using Dynamic Keywords in ads is that it can improve your quality score by matching your ad copy more closely with the context of the user. A better user experience means a greater chance of increasing traffic to your website!

  1. Type "/keyword" in the headline or description field so that the different dynamic keywords appear

  2. Select the one(s) you wanna use: City, Country or Day of the week. You can of course select all of them

  3. The demo on the right is automatically updated

Specifics regarding the keyword {City}

  • The relevance of the city name displayed in the ad is strongly tied to the user's Internet connection type. Hence, when using the keyword City, it is strongly recommended to avoid displaying the ad to users with a mobile connection type.

  • If the keyword City is used, a warning is displayed when the creative is assigned to a line.

  • The recommended targeting can be automatically applied (Wifi & Wired connections).


Note: To test the dynamic keywords, the creative needs to be saved and attached to a line item, then go to creative preview and get the demo link.

Customizing Call to Action button

You can change the default blue color of the call-to-action in Creative Editor for Single Image, Single Video, Carousel, Social Video & Image (Layout 2) formats.

To change the CTA color, click the color icon before the CTA menu and copy-paste the desired hex code. You can also use the color picker. If you want to go back to the default color, click on RESET.

Crop Function

For Single Image and Carousel, Creative Editor automatically crops uploaded images to the required aspect ratio, if they originally have a different aspect ratio. You can review and re-crop images if needed. You can also crop larger images. This makes the process of creating these ads even more seamless!

  1. After uploading an image, click Crop to adjust the image.

  2. When desired size is cropped, click "CROP" to bring in the new size of the image.

Duplicate creatives

You can now duplicate creatives built with the Creative Editor by following these steps:

  1. In Creative Library, hover over the creative you want to duplicate and click the More options (3 dots) button.

  2. Select Duplicate from the menu.

  3. A copy of the original creative is saved with the name "copy" at the end.

  4. Edit and rename the creative as needed, then assign it to a line item.

  5. Check & update the creatives details such as third party tracking or creative flight dates if needed.

Creative editing

  • Even if your campaign is already live, you have the ability to fully edit your creatives. This includes making changes to logos, images, headlines, CTAs, and tracking URLs. It is important to note that updating a creative will not affect its status or cause a pause in delivery, just like with other types of creatives in TAM.

  • However, it is possible for a live creative to be deactivated if the changes made do not comply with our ad policies.

  • As soon as you save changes to a creative, the updates will be applied to the campaign, and the live creative will continue to deliver with the latest changes, even if you decide to cancel other campaign changes. The Creative Editor will issue a warning when you attempt to edit an active campaign's creatives, to prevent unintentional changes.

  • Do avoid making significant changes to live creatives, to minimize the risk of deactivation or any potential issues with delivery.
