Learn how to effectively filter inventory to meet your Brand Safety requirements in this article.

Brand Safety Targeting

When you create a new line item at Targeting level, Teads Brand Safety targeting is selected by default. You can remove this option or select another option to filter out inventory that does not meet your Brand Safety requirements.

Filter inventory based on Teads Brand Safety

When selecting “Teads” as a Brand Safety targeting option, an optimal combination of third-party Brand Safety filters (DoubleVerify and/or IAS) is applied, depending on the type of inventory and level of protection selected.

The Teads Brand Safety filter avoids content identified as unsafe based on Standard Brand Safety categories; these include but are not limited to:

  • Adult

  • Alcohol

  • Crime

  • Hate Speech

  • Illegal Drugs

  • Injury and Death

  • Military Conflict

  • Obscenity

  • Terrorism

The Teads Brand Safety filter offers two levels of Brand Safety:

  • Teads Brand Safety is optimised for maximum reach while avoiding high-risk unsafe content.

  • Users can opt to select an advanced version, which is optimised for maximum protection while avoiding moderate as well as high-risk unsafe content and uncategorised content. Please note that this will reduce the reach of your campaign.

Use your Third-Party Brand Safety technology of choice

You can use your third-party verification technology of choice to enforce provider-specific Brand Safety thresholds for impressions you target.

Integral Ad Science (IAS)

IAS offers protection against the following sensitive content types: Adult, Alcohol, Illegal Downloads, Drugs, Hate Speech, Offensive Language, Violence.

  • IAS Brand Safety excludes content that is deemed as high risk, unsafe or has not been categorised by IAS.

  • Users can opt to select an advanced version, which also excludes content that has been deemed as a moderate risk by IAS. Please note that this will reduce the reach of your campaign.

Content that IAS cannot categorise is filtered out across both options.

DoubleVerify

DoubleVerify offers protection against the following sensitive content categories: Adult & Sexual, Alcohol, Aviation Disasters, Crime, Death & Injury, Drug Abuse, Extreme & Graphic, Hate Speech & Cyberbullying, Human-Made Disasters, Incentivised/Malware/Clutter, Inflammatory Politics & News, Natural Disasters, Negative News - Pharmaceutical, Occult, Piracy/Copyright Infringement, Profanity, Terrorism, Tobacco & eCigarettes, Unmoderated UGC: Forums/Images/Video, Vehicle Disasters and Violence.

  • DoubleVerify Brand Safety targets away from inventory that has been deemed as high/medium risk, unsafe content by DoubleVerify.

  • Users can opt to select an advanced version, which also excludes content that DoubleVerify has deemed to be low risk, unsafe content. Please note that this will reduce the reach of your campaign.

Content that DoubleVerify cannot categorise is filtered out across both options.
